Win Control: Rotator Control Software |
|
The Win Control program is a windows task, which allows a remote user to control Antenna Product's rotatable antennas, which are equipped with the CP-34 remote control unit. The program takes input from the user and report status back to the user. A numerical heading can be entered by means of clicking on the box labeled "Azimuth", typing in the numerical heading, and clicking on the box labeled "Rotate". A text file may be added to the home directory, which contains commonly used headings. These are chosen from the drop down menu in the uppermost box. The format for the list of headings is a text string, followed by a coma followed by the numerical heading in degrees. When the program is initialized it will read this file and store a list of the headings for future use. When a heading is selected the rotations will begin automatically. The field labeled "Status" displays the last received status from the controller. The compass rose on the right side of the display gives a graphical representation of the heading, plus the status of the controller. When the compass rose turns green the antenna is rotating, when red there is a fault of some sort, and when white the antenna is stopped. There are three fields to allow the selection of the COM port to be used by the PC, the Baud Rate to be used by the PC, and the address of the CP-34. Refer to the technical manual for the CP-34 for these settings. The button labeled "Update" is
used when updating the firmware in the CP-34 controller. From time to time updates to the microcontroller program may be required. This can be done, in circuit, to the newer controllers from Antenna Products Corp. This process is quite easy but takes some time, approximately 30 minutes. The Win_Control program performs the update. Click on the "Update" button and a menu will appear asking for the file name of the new code to download to the controller. These files will have an extension of ".HEX", and can be downloaded from the Antenna Products Corp. website. While the update is proceeding, a status line will be updated, at the bottom of the window. |
