The SB-201/1 is a UHF shipboard antenna capable of transmitting up to 1 kW Average power between 225-400 MHz. The antenna is configured for mounting around a ship's mast and it provides a vertically polarized, omnidirectional azimuth radiation pattern. The antenna is easily mountable on ship masts ranging in diameter from 4 to 15 inches without the use of special adapters. The elements are made of aluminum and supported by an aluminum framework which mounts around the mast.

The antenna's lightweight design is achieved by the compact hybrid feed network. Hybrids and baluns are utilized to feed the four (4) dipole elements which provides a DC ground, minimizing the effects of lightning and eliminates static charges. The all aluminum sealed element and support structure provides for a lightweight, environmentally protected antenna assembly. The antenna mounting frame structure is provided with a gross mast size adjustment, allowing it to be mounted on any size mast from 4 to 15 inches in diameter. Military designation is AS-1735.
